The fact throughout history is that whenever government dominates the economic affairs of its citizenry, a free society is eroded, then destroyed, and a minority government ensues. Personal liberty without economic liberty is an absolute contra--Ludwig von Mises

Peace is Impossible, so what do we do? - by Tim

On the first official day of his decade old campaign for President of the United States, Senator John F. Kerry (JFK ? I think not) said "the swagger of a president saying `Bring 'em on' will never bring peace." While I agree with this statement, I disagree with his implication that it is even possible to bring about peace, or that it is something we should even strive to obtain. We should certainly avoid the alternative of war whenever possible, but never forget that our enemies don’t have the same desire for peace that we do. For peace to work, both parties must have a desire for it.

Throughout American history, the morals and religious ideas of our founders and lawmakers has made its way into the basic laws of our land. The Ten Commandments is the moral foundation of most of our countries citizen and the laws that protect them. One of the most basic laws of our land, one based in a Judeo-Christian idea, is that all men are created equal, and all people have the right to be free. What is a Liberal? - by Tim
posted: 30 July 2003 - 6:01PM
A liberal is a person who believes in freedom first and foremost, and in every situation possible, applies the idea of freedom to his opinion about life, government, and people. A liberal understands that by upholding the liberty of another, even when doing so goes against his or her own personal beliefs, they thereby protect his or her own freedom. Only through freedom do we have the ability to lead our own lives without the intrusion of other people’s ideas and opinions.

Prescription Drug Re-importation - by Tim

Health care policy is scary. It doesn’t matter what political ideology you subscribe to, or whether like me, you fall in the middle. The problem with health care policy is that it’s all about humans and their well-being. While I don’t want my grandmother to have to eat discount store brand cat food so she’ll be able to pay for her high priced prescription drugs that keep her alive, I also don’t want the pharmaceutical industry to become an unattractive place for investment and research and development.

A new unit of government. - by Tim
posted: 23 July 2003 - 12:01PM
I am defining a new unit of government: The family.

We have a federal government, which has supreme power over the state government. We have State governments, which grant authority over and create several different types of towns and various other municipalities. I contend that there is another level of government in American life, the family.
